The Cape Fear Blues Festival
celebrates its 13th year as the region's
premier blues event on July 25, 26 &
27.  Our organization wishes to thank
all of our patrons, sponsors, artists,
staff, volunteers, and audience
members for helping make our event
an annual success.   A very special
"thank you" to all of our local blues
artists who participate - each of them
are valuable assets to our Cape Fear
blues community.

Cape Fear Blues Jam
Welcomes Everyone!

The Rusty Nail remains the gathering
point for blues musicians and anyone
who enjoys an eventful evening of
blues music on a Tuesday night.

The audience continues to stream
through the doors of The Nail in force
despite the usual fluctuations due to
holidays, school sessions, and weather
patterns.  Musicians also make a
bee-line for the sign-up board (newly
revamped) and early sets can fill up
quickly.  All sets are 20 minutes long or
3 songs, whichever comes first.

Upgrades to the extensive equipment
inventory continue to occur on a
regular and "as needed" basis.  Amps,
drums, bass rig, and a complete sound
system are all supplied and maintained
by the Cape Fear Blues Society.  You
can learn more about the Cape Fear
region's largest and longest running
open mic night by visiting the
Blues Jam
page on this website or contact Pete
Durso at 910-383-1247 or
peterguitar@aol.com.
You've reached the online home for the Cape Fear Blues Society
and it's many projects and events, including the Cape Fear Blues Festival,
the Cape Fear Blues Challenge, and the Cape Fear Blues Jam.  The CFBS
is a 501(c)3 tax-exempt, non-profit corporation.  If you have a question
regarding the CFBS, email us

CFBS Helps Endow New Fund For Music Projects

As cultural organizations go, the Cape Fear Blues Society has much to be proud of.
But now we're putting a new twist on what it means to be a strong and
self-sustaining advocate of the Wilmington arts establishment.

As of Dec. 30, 2005, the
Ann B. Finkelstein Memorial Fund was officially founded
and is now managed in cooperation with the Community Foundation of
Southeastern North Carolina.  The fund is jointly held and administered by the
Cape
Fear Blues Society
, the Finkelstein family, and Mary Vallejos & Gary Sager,
long-time supporters of the CFBS.  A combined initial gift of $5000 from all three
partners helped make this new endowment possible.

Currently a donor-advised fund, the Ann B. Finkelstein Memorial Fund puts the CFBS
in a truly benevolent role and proves that successful non-profit organizations can
also be stewards of philanthropy within their own communities.  Current plans call
for future distribution of funds to music education & workshops, live music events,
and projects supporting youth in music. While blues music will certainly be well
emphasized, other musical genres may benefit as well.  Even bigger plans are on
the horizon for fund-raising events to further enhance the fund's monetary strength.
